Why are custom wedding designs the way to go? Because creating a truly unique, one-of-a-kind and memorable wedding day takes a lot of time, preparations and strategy. Before creating all the amazing wedding stationery items you first need to create the foundation that will set the direction for all your designs - branding.
This might sound surprising in the context of weddings but hear me out. It requires branding-level support to turn the wedding of your dreams into a reality. Branding for weddings is realized through what I like to call a “wedding theme”. Essentially it is a light touch branding exercise that creates the visual elements that bring your wedding to life - wedding mood board, your logo or letter mark, custom color palette, typography and custom graphics - all elements that will go into your wedding designs (signage, stationery and website). The wedding theme will serve as a visual basis for every touchpoint of your big day.

👉🏽 Tip - Remember to make extra copies of the invitation suite (like your save the date, invitations, RSVPs etc) and any other special stationery items (e.g. menus, place cards, cocktail menus etc.) for keepsake. Also remember to take the extra copies with you on the day of your wedding so your photographer can capture those amazing detail shots on the day.
Compliment your wedding designs
Floral arrangements - what wedding is complete without flowers? Select your favorite flowers that align with the season and your chosen color palette. It’s usually a good idea to mix varying sized arrangements throughout your big day at different touchpoints. You can also add other natural elements like greenery, wood, dried flowers, flower petals and branches for a more rustic or bohemian vibe.
Setting the mood - Lighting has a big impact on the overall mood of your day. If your wedding designs are set in a light and airy tone or a dark & moody tone then make sure to align your lighting accordingly. It’s always a good idea to use candles and other warm/soft lighting for a romantic atmosphere.
Other decor - Use of unique centrepieces, like antiques and vintage pieces that add personality to your wedding. You can also use different textures and fabric to accompany your wedding design. Make sure you consider the venue's vibe and existing decor and choose items that complement the space, also taking into account your wedding mood board and color palette.
The process
To design the wedding of your dreams you’ll need careful planning and strategy. The most important thing to remember is that your wedding is leading and that your designs will be made to fit for your wedding day, not the other way around. First, understand your wedding plans, - where, when, what style, what will the day look like. Are you going to have events before or after the wedding, how many days is your celebration? Once you have a good idea of how your wedding plan will look we can start to get an idea of what designs you’ll need to accompany your plans. The creation of your designs will be spread over a longer time period as it’s not possible to prepare everything upfront. We’ll start with creating your wedding theme, that’s the foundation of all the work that follows. Then, we will prepare all your stationery (either for digital or print, or for both) in batches. We will also create your stunning wedding website that can be updated and amended as you move closer to the big day.
For all wedding day touchpoints will need to be printed ahead of time, allowing enough room for sample testing and gathering all accessories (e.g. signage will need frames that hold the signage). Together with your wedding planner you can agree on a timeline for setting up the decor and assigning tasks for vendors for setting everything up.
